About FIELDERS

The Fielders Basketball Club was formed in 2010 and is a not for profit Community Sporting Association that provides people within the the Berwick,
​Narre Warren and Cranbourne  area the opportunity to play basketball.
Our club has grown from a small start to almost 50 junior teams ranging from under 8's to under 18's for both boys and girls.
Our junior teams participate in the Casey Basketball Saturday competitions
   We also have a variety of adult teams spread across the Casey, Berwick and Dandenong leagues.

Established in 2010

Our club originally started playing in the Life Be In It Competition at Kambrya College, but we have now joined the Casey Basketball Association where games are played on Saturday mornings and afternoons. The indoor stadiums where we play allow for year round competition with the Summer season generally commencing at the beginning of Term 4 and the Winter season commencing at the beginning of Term 2.  The club aims to provide opportunities for all players and caters for juniors simply looking to have some fun and get fit, right through to players with the desire to improve and compete at a higher level including representative basketball. ​

Our Goal

Our aim is to keep fees manageable to all families, and we as a not for profit organisation aim to make any additional resources are wisely invested back into the club to guarantee maximum benefit to our players. Our committee, coaches and team managers are always on hand to provide any necessary assistance to players or parents and to ensure that our club continues to grow from strength to strength.

Brendan Pauwels
Fielders President

When Santa brought a basketball ring to the Pauwels house in 2018, our lives changed forever. A couple months later, Brendan’s son Rhys played his first game for the Fielders and Brendan had no idea what he was doing as Team Manager. Fast forward 3 years and we’re Fielders through and through, with Brendan coaching and joining the Committee to ‘help out’. That helping out sees Brendan in the President role where he is passionate about supporting this club continue to go from strength to strength whilst maintaining the family feel we are well known for.

Bill was selected by the committee after Scott Fiske handed the position of Vice President to Brendan Pauwels for the final few months of the 2021 who was also elected as President at the end of the season, In this time of Covid issues we needed a strong leader to take on the position of VP. Billy put his hand up not just to help this club move forward but to also help Fielders introduce more female players within our club. Billy has been an amazing gift to our Fielders helping in growing our female teams and support our club.

I joined Fielders Basketball Club when both my sons showed an interest in playing Basketball. It wasn’t too long after joining, that I decided I wanted to give back to the club that had given my boys a true sense of belonging. With a background in management and Early Childhood, I felt confident in being able to support the club from an administrative perspective, and this saw me undertaking the role of Registrar. I feel honoured to be able to volunteer and give back to the club and invite all members to find a way to do the same. Our club wouldn’t be where it is today, if it wasn’t for our community and the dedication, loyalty and commitment each person puts back in. If you see me around the courts, please know I’m always up for a chat and love to meet our players and families!

I never saw myself with a strong desire to volunteer on the executive committee, but after being nominated in absenteeism by a friend for the treasurers role, I couldn’t back down. With two daughters who thoroughly enjoy the game and the strong connections with their team mates, I recognised that my contribution would compliment our family commitment to Fielders.  With an avid eye for figures, finances and risk minimisation the treasurers role felt like a perfect fit for me.

Victoria joined the committee and straight away made a difference by taking on our fundraising role. Victoria was instrumental in getting our kids their weekly awards and arranging our 2022 Bunnings Fundraiser which bought in over $3000. Victoria has now taken a step further to become the clubs secretary

We work to have your kids succeed

The committee works very hard to ensure that players are put into teams that will support their own growth and development. Some kids are very competitive and strive for A grade, some however, love to just play! From G grade to A grade we work with the kids to find the right place in the club for them at Fielders. We also provide opportunities for players to play 'up' in a higher age group. This allows them to develop their skills further in readiness for coming seasons.

We also encourage older players to start developing their 'coaching' skills.  With many younger teams we provide a training program for older players to become Assistant Coaches with the view of becoming a Fielders Coach. ​

Fielders Basketball Club prides itself on being an inclusive club and all junior teams have one hour allotted training sessions each week to enable all juniors the opportunity to improve on their skills.  Our role as coaches and team managers is to make sure our players have improved from the start of the season to the end of the season
